If you travel often, whether it’s to the mall, a convention, or another state or country, you’ve probably dealt with one of two problems: a portable charger heavy enough that you notice it in your bag, or too many cables because you’re charging more than one device. SauceStudios got a hands-on look at Ugreen’s collaboration with Honkai: Star Rail to see if this lineup actually solves those problems, and whether the anime branding is worth paying extra for. Thank you to the Ugreen Team for allowing me to do an extensive review of their awesome products. Even if you do not like anime-themed products, they have the non-themed version as well. Though I do not play Honkai as much as I used to, the look of the product is pretty cool.
A bit of information before we go in. Ugreen makes more than chargers and cables. The company also sells NAS devices (Network-Attached Storage, basically a personal server you keep at home to back up and access your own files), UPS units (Uninterruptible Power Supply, a battery backup that keeps your equipment running through a power outage), docking stations, and more. They continue to improve their product; while there are still more things that can be improved, they have become one of the few brands that I would say you can fully trust. However, do not take my word for it; you should see it for yourself. I have a few Ugreen chargers and a Ugreen 8-bay NAS, and I am considering some of their other products if they fit my workflow in the future.
Ugreen X Honkai: Star Rail Limited Collectible Gift Box
Unless you are going to buy one or two Honkai-themed items, I would suggest buying the Gift Set box, which is Yao Guang-themed, and the box itself is beautiful as a presentation and a place to store your items safely. The box is currently at $200, but we do not know how long this lasts, so please jump in on it. If you total everything together, you are paying an extra $58 for a beautiful acrylic stand, a pouch to store your items, a badge, and a holographic ticket, which is slightly pricey if you are not after the other extra stuff. The bag itself, I feel, is definitely worth it, as it is high-quality, can store all your power bank, charger, and cables, and still have room to put more in, like your AirPods, phone, wallet, whatever you can fit in it; it is a decent size. I will be taking this with me to Gamescom as it’s perfect for on the go, and will not take up a lot of space. In my opinion, if they remove the other items like the badge, ticket, and stand but keep the bag and lower the price a bit reasonably, the box would be great to market for an average person who doesn’t really need the extra stuff.
Most of these products go well with Apple devices, so just be aware that it will work on other brands, but you may not see its full capacity.
Technical Review of the Items
10,000mAh 30W Magnetic Power Bank:
Weighing roughly 0.8 lb, I compare it to another brand’s wireless QI fast charger that I have on hand, and they appear to be roughly on par in weight. This is a small downside: if you are using the magnetic power bank to charge your phone while holding it, you will begin to feel fatigue; however, just placing it on the table is perfectly fine, so just be aware of the weight.
The power bank is true to its 30W usage if you are using the USB. They do mention it is up to 15W if you are using the certified Qi2 charger of the bank itself. It has a very nice magnetic hold that holds onto phone cases and, even on Samsung, despite the location of the camera, holds up pretty well. The power bank does get somewhat warm, but still comfortable to hold in hand for a decent while.
Both iPhone and Samsung phone testing shows it reaches the max 15W usage; however, if you are charging extra devices, the usage does drop to 5W. If you are using the Qi2 charger and you are charging another device, make sure to press the power button to reactivate the Qi2 charger. This was something I overlooked during my initial testing, as I probably didn’t notice it in the instructions. If I just use the port or cable, it would be a max of 30W and charge pretty fast.
The cable attached to the power bank also acts as a small carry strap, and it’s very handy and something I think is a good feature to have for any portable devices in the future. Beyond that, a 10000 mAh battery can charge a phone roughly 2.5 times from 40% to 100% in roughly 1 hour per charge, and it takes roughly two hours to charge the power bank fully.
65W Charger & 100W Retractable USB-C Cable
A very small charger that uses USB- C to charge your devices; the box comes with the retractable USB-C cable as well- what a convenient inclusion. The charger charges up to about 65W for most of the devices I have tested, so results may vary at home and with the device itself. It’s a good product to have when you are using it on the plane or at a coffee shop. It does get pretty warm after about 10 minutes, but it has thermal guard technology in place to prevent overheating. I would suggest letting it cool down before using it again. The cable itself is pretty long, about 40 inches from one end of the USB-C to the other. The cable is very flexible and bendable. Rated to charge up to 100W, so a perfect cable to charge a MacBook Air, Steam Deck, or any device in that manner that would accept up to 100W, which is a lot of older and current devices.
FineTrack Square Tracker
This is similar to an AirTag, and it is only compatible with iOS. I tried to make it work with Samsung, but it failed every time. If you don’t need it, please give it to someone else; otherwise, please clip it to something, as it does look nice. That is one of the two downsides. The other is that the battery isn’t rechargeable; you may be able to replace it, but you would have to crack it open, which can damage the item.
The bright side is that it works, and you can hear it decently well with the 110 dB alarm rating if you ever forget where the stuff you clip it to is located. It has a lifespan of five to seven years or up to 2700 finds, whichever comes first, but it may vary, and it’s pretty cheap to replace once it dies. However, I can’t say if they will still have the Honkai FineTrack after five years. It is unique and very small, so it’s an extra I would say that I would use for traveling to other places. Or if you often misplace certain items, this is a good thing to have. If what I heard is true about an AirTag lasting up to two years, I believe this is a better alternative if you don’t want to spend money buying a CR battery every two years (though I’ve never used or had an AirTag to really test, so results may vary).
10,000mAh 45W Power Bank
This is not included in the gift box collection, and you would need to buy it separately. This power bank has been one of my favorite Ugreen X Honkai products so far. So much so that I use it quite heavily after I received it, and it feels natural to carry it with me quite often. Coming in the same weight as the other power bank, it weighs roughly 0.8 lb. It comes with an attached USB cable that you can use to charge your device, which can also be used as a carry strap, though it doesn’t always stay in place, so be careful if you are swinging it around and not walking normally with it. It is not the best carry strap, but it is good enough.
It can charge a device up to 2.5-3 times from 40% to full in less than an hour from my testing, though it can vary depending on if you are using fast/slow charge, how hot the power bank gets, and when it’s near full battery. It maxes out at roughly 35W when you’re charging the powerbank and takes about 2 hours for a full charge from 8%. Even though it advertises up to 45W charging input, I am unsure how to get that even with a charger and a cable rated at 65W. If anyone knows how to push that limit to 45W, please let me know. With that said, I can get up to near 45W output on several of my devices, so this was a good test. It can only go up to 55W with Xiaomi devices; since we do not have that, we cannot test that result, but from all the stress testing of the devices, I would believe that it is possible.
The temperature does get warm, but it never felt like it would get hot even after using it all day, which is a great thing, but I probably wouldn’t try doing that over and over again. It can take up to 3 devices, as it has a built-in USB-C cable and USB-A & USB-C ports. You can see it has a screen to monitor how much battery it has left and the power output.
Overall Impression
The quality of this product is pretty great, and I don’t have any issues or complaints about how it’s built or how it feels when carrying it around. It does not feel cheap, and you are getting what you pay for. There are some minor inconsistencies in the data, but as an average person who doesn’t have professional or enterprise tools to verify all the data. However, it is roughly 90% accurate based on what they stated, and mileage can vary depending on how each person uses it. The product seems and feels like the right price for what they are going on (though some products may feel slightly expensive), especially during the sales. Compared to other brands, I say it’s up there, and they have been consistent and delivering high-quality products, with modern or improved technology in all their Ugreen products. Yes, while there are some areas where they still have ways to go, you can’t go wrong choosing them when you are looking for good, trusted products. I will be taking this when going on trips.
